How to use WhatsApp Web

The Facebook messaging service WhatsApp is one of the world’s most popular international online communication services. WhatsApp Web is the browser version of the WhatsApp Messenger chat and video/voice call app for iOS and Android. Desktop WhatsApp comes in two variants – a downloadable system application for Mac and Windows or the ability to work directly from the browser.

WhatsApp Web and WhatsApp Desktop act as extensions for your WhatsApp mobile account. Here we will guide you through the use of the WhatsApp browser application.

The process and user interface are the same in iOS 14 and iOS 15. The Android 12 interface is also the same as in the previous version.

How to use WhatsApp on Android 12

For Android 12, the following steps are to be followed after using the WhatsApp website on your computer:

Step 1: For Android phones, launch WhatsApp and select the three dots in the upper right corner of the chat window.

Step 2: Select Paired Devices and then Pair Device.

Step 3: Keep your phone up to date with the QR code of your computer to link it.

Step 4: Your smartphone account is now linked to the online version of the app.

Step 5: You can send and receive messages through your computer’s desktop browser.

WhatsApp Web Features

After scanning the QR code, you can view the WhatsApp chat list directly on the web page. You can see the chats on the left by clicking on the contacts to open the chat and message history if you have saved it.

In the upper left corner of the site, there are three icons: Status, a new chat, and a menu with a list of nested options. Clicking on a new chat opens the contact list on the left side. From here, you can create a new group or start a conversation.

In the three-point drop-down menu, you can create a new group, change your profile information, browse archived chats, view messages with stars, change settings such as notifications and chat wallpaper, or log out.

What are WhatsApp Desktop and Web applications?

WhatsApp web and desktop applications are smartphone extensions. They reflect all the conversations and messages you have on your phone in the WhatsApp app, and you can view and answer them all on your computer or Mac using your computer keyboard instead of the keyboard on your smartphone.

How to make a WhatsApp Group Video call

Open the WhatsApp group chat you want to video call.
If your group chat has 33 or more participants, tap Group call.

Suppose your group chat has 32 or fewer participants; tap a Video call and confirm your decision. The first seven people who answer can join the call, and only group members can participate.

Find the contacts you want to add to the call, then tap Video call.

Make a group video call from the CALLS tab

Open WhatsApp, then tap the CALLS tab.
Tap New call > New group call.
Find the contacts you want to add to the call, then tap Video call.

Make a group video call from an individual chat

Open the WhatsApp chat with one of the contacts you want to video call.
Tap Video call.
Once the contact accepts the call, tap Open > Add participant.
Find another contact you want to add to the call, then tap ADD.
Tap Add participant if you want to add more contacts.

Join a group video call

Join an incoming group video call

You’ll be notified when someone invites you to join a group video call.
If you can’t join, tap Ignore. To open the call info screen, tap Join.
You can preview the call participants and other invitees from the call menu.
Tap Join to join the call.
While on the call, tap Open to open the call info screen.

Tap Add participant to add more contacts to the call.
Tap RING to send a notification to people who’ve already been invited.

Join a missed group video call

Open WhatsApp, then tap the CALLS tab.
If it starts the call from a group chat, you could join by opening that chat and tapping Join.
If the call is ongoing, tap the call you’d like to join. It will open the call info screen.
From the call menu, tap Join.

How do WhatsApp Desktop and Web work?

Both WhatsApp Desktop and WhatsApp Web initially require the phone to be connected to work. To do this, you need to scan the QR code on your mobile phone and check your phone’s PIN, fingerprint, or Face ID to access messages and calls. Once you have done this, you can put your phone in your desk drawer or pocket and forget about it.

WhatsApp desktop and web apps pull all conversations and deliver new messages, and you can start new conversations or search for existing conversations. You will also access your profile, basic settings, and archived chats.

These apps don’t offer precisely the same functionality as a smartphone app regarding settings, but replying to messages and starting new conversations are the same. It is only more accessible and faster if you have a bigger screen and a better keyboard.

Can WhatsApp Web or Desktop be accessed on multiple devices?

You can link up to four devices to your WhatsApp account to use WhatsApp Desktop or WhatsApp Web, whether it’s a laptop or a tablet, for example. It is worth noting that it can use only one phone simultaneously.

You must follow the instructions on the above Pair of devices, so first, you need your phone to do this.

They cannot set up the paired device without a phone since it must scan the QR code.

Does WhatsApp Web work without your phone?

It would help if you had your phone for the initial installation of WhatsApp Web or WhatsApp desktop apps, but your phone doesn’t need to stay online for these four paired devices to work when connected.

How do I use WhatsApp desktop or web applications?

After opening the WhatsApp web or desktop application on your computer, Mac, or tablet, scan the QR code displayed on your computer screen with your smartphone.

To do this, on your iPhone, open the WhatsApp app on your device, go to ‘Settings,’ then to ‘Paired Devices’, and tap on ‘Pair on your device. WhatsApp Web does not allow you to make voice and video calls to individual contacts like a mobile app. However, making group video calls in the online version is possible using the Messenger Rooms function. If you have a room, share a link with the people you want to invite to a group video chat.

You can join even if you don’t have WhatsApp or Messenger. It also does not require you or participants to log in to Facebook. It is important to note that Messenger rooms are not end-to-end encrypted.
